2001 BMW F650 Available Used Only
Beginner Bikes
This is the bike the new F650GS replaced--and lacks the GS's fuel injection and other updates--but it remains an exceptional choice for beginners who have mastered the basic controls of a motorcycle. You can easily find used F650s in pristine condition. The F650 was a truly international effort: produced for BMW by Aprilia in Italy, featuring a Rotax engine made in Austria. (Excepting the new Rotax engine, the F650GS is now built at BMW's headquarters in Munich.) The "Chain Gang" owners group (www.f650.com) is a great resource for owners and admirers. Seat height: 31.5 inches. (You can purchased a kit that lowers the seat height to 29.5 inches.)
